japantown is almost the same as exiting as disneyland.
i love kinokuniya bookstore - it has tree separate departments in japanese mall - in one they sell primary anime and manga, in the other there are office goods, the third and the biggest one is main bookstore. i like japanese culture a lot, i like to watch how japanese people are shopping in fiction department, with million different choices, all look pretty much the same for me, all of which are read from right to the left, and i have no idea about what are these million books about, but these people understand everything, they are browsing from shelf to shelf trying to make a choice. i also like periodicals department, some of japanese magazines are so different from traditional western we are all used to.
as mush as i like kinokuniya i also like grocery shop. i like mochi rice cakes and mochi ice cream, i like their green iced tea (natural), i like some of their snacks. the snacks shelves are the most exciting ones too because they are full of stuff you have no idea about. it's okay if a packaging is see-through, but what if it is not? then you just buy something and challenge your luck. couple of times i bought some really disgusting stuff (for my taste at least).
but more than anything in san francisco's japantown i like kabuki movie theatre. even in the biggest auditoriums it is very comfortable and cozy. the smallest ones - on the first floor - are the most coziest and nicest movie auditoriums you can imagine. moreover they have balcony for people over 21 with bar. oh, after i'll turn twenty one i will definitely go to kabuki to this balcony on some movie premiere.
oh, and i was watching milk there - just go and see it, it is a wonderful movie.
